American Opposition to Disengagement Growing:
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon visited both New York City and Washington D.C. this week in an attempt to shore up support for his disengagement plan. He was surprised to find a rather large response in opposition from across the nation. In addition to visible demonstrators, thousands of protest emails, faxes and phone calls poured in to key members of congress and the administration. At the same time teams of people delivered packets on Capitol Hill, stating explicit reasons for Israel and the United States to reconsider the scheduled retreat from valuable land that appears to reward four years of "Palestinian" jihad (terror). Thousands of Christians and Jews from every state responded to an outpouring of information and Action Alerts from the Unity Coalition for Israel. These communications highlighted pitfalls inherent in Sharon's unilateral plan to remove the residents of 21 Jewish communities of Gush Katif in Gaza and four towns in Northern Shomrom (Samaria), the biblical heartland of Israel. For more detailed information see the Unity Coalition for Israel.
Israeli Opposition to Disengagement Strengthens:
Circulated throughout Israel this past week is the new slogan "Expel our brothers or our enemies?" It was seen on street signboards and on orange shirts and stickers. From Gaza, to the Golan Heights, to Kiryat Shemonah, Israel has become one big chain of orange signs and ribbons challenging everyone to vote on the grassroots independent referendum. Mishalot Yisrael stated that of the 20,000 people who have voted thus far, more than 80% are in opposition to the disengagement.
As We Suspected:
Recently, Kamal Nawash of the Free Muslims Coalition (FMC) held a Free Muslims March Against Terrorism. It was not surprising to find that the leaders of every other major Muslim organization shunned the march and declined to take a public stand against terrorism. Nawash assembled a list of the more than 80 sponsors, yet none of the Muslim groups that claim to be moderates, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) would join to take a stand. Though these groups pay lip service to opposing terrorism, they could not follow through on their rhetoric and bring themselves to stand together with the Free Muslim Coalition. Nawash is in the vast minority of Muslim leaders to definitively confront the root cause of terrorism: radical Islam. Nawash, uncomfortable with the ambiguity of other Muslim leaders, not only opposes violent jihad, but also the doctrines of Wahhabism and political Islam. He is against the creation of Islamic states anywhere in the world. All other major Islamic organizations will not even consider this position. Their refusal to support Nawash’s message exposes their true sympathies.
Brain Stretcher for Western Thought:
The leaders of the Greek Orthodox Churches are meeting in Istanbul (Turkey) to discuss the future of the head of the Church in Jerusalem, "Patriarch" Irineos I. He is facing a mutiny over business ties to Israelis. "Palestinian" church leaders (?!) want to discharge him of his duties because he allegedly approved the long term lease of prime property in the Old City of Jerusalem to Jews. Most members of the Greek Orthodox church in Israel are "Palestinians" (!?), and they believe the lease strengthens Israeli claims to the Holy City. Irineos, who is Greek, denies any wrongdoing. He believes the mutiny is aimed at replacing him with a "Palestinian."
Editor's note: We have determined over time that seemingly all "Palestinian Christians" are first and foremost "Palestinians." Any Christian can read any bible and clearly see Israel's undeniable covenanted ownership of the land.
