"Palestinians" Prove the Pope to be Right:
In a speech given at a university in Germany on Tuesday, 12 September, the Pope quoted the Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus. Evidently, following a discussion with an educated Persian on the subject of Christianity and Islam, the emperor himself wrote this dialogue during the siege of Constantinople between 1394 and 1402; including this now very famous quote,
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
The result has been a vicious worldwide Islamic outcry including armed attacks and firebombing of numerous churches in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza City. Muslim leaders in Gaza said the Pope "hates" Islam, while a call for his death was issued in London, and Iraqi groups threatened the Vatican. Of course, and completely inconsistent with Jesus and His apostles, the Pope back-tracked on his speech, saying he "sincerely regrets that certain passages of his address could have sounded offensive to the sensitivities of the Muslim faithful and [were] interpreted in a manner that in no way corresponds to his intentions." Regardless of this fact, the actions of many Islamic reactionaries prove what the emperor said to be true. Pope Benedict XVI September 12 complete speech

Court Orders Girl Released from Prison:
Apparently dozens of protest faxes did the trick, and fifteen-year-old Tirtzah Sariel was abruptly feed from prison. Tirtzah's next scheduled court date would have been several weeks from now and well after the holidays. Until then she was to have remained in prison for the crime of having fought with Arab olive-pickers. Justice Solberg ruled today that the girl must be immediately freed from jail. The judge said that even if Tirtzah had been convicted of the crime for which she was originally arrested - pouring out an Arab bucket of olives - she would have sat in prison for less time than she has already been there.

Tirtzah's real crime was that she refused to sign any papers in connection with the case, saying she does not recognize a Jewish court system that does not operate according to Jewish Law. Tirtzah's mother [present at the court hearing] afterwards said, "The prosecutor, in a last-ditch attempt to save face for the Prosecution, gave a whole lecture saying that she had to be punished for not recognizing the court system. It just shows that she was in prison for two and a half months all because she has different opinions than they do!"

Nadia Matar, co-founder of Women in Green, wrote an article on Arutz-7's Hebrew website last week, calling for faxes to be sent to the Commission of Public Complaints against Judges. Matar explained, "We must complain that Justice Ori Ben-Dor acted unlawfully by not speeding up the legal proceeding in the case, and by allowing a fifteen-year-old girl to rot in prison for four months until the next scheduled court session."

Ten Million Shekels of Terror Money:
The focus of Tuesday night's operation was in a bank in Shechem used by Hamas to finance its terror activities. The raid included the confiscation of computers, documents, telephones, and receipts. Gunshots and explosives rained down upon the Israeli forces, who were unhurt but returned fire. One wanted terrorist was arrested, and another was shot. A Hamas member arrested a month ago told investigators that the money had been transferred from Syria and Lebanon to Hamas and Islamic Jihad via Arab money changers in Judea and Samaria. The "Palestinian" Authority does not supervise monies that arrive from abroad, and turns a blind eye to their frequent use for terrorist activities. Two moneychangers have been arrested and questioned by the Shabak over the past several weeks, one from Judea and one from Samaria. One of them, Iman Sayad, has admitted to having helped in the transfer of tens of thousands of dollars from Hizbullah in Lebanon to leading wanted terrorists in Shechem. The second, Amin Shahtour of Bethlehem, was arrested on similar charges.

"This money is the gas that fuels the engine of terrorism," a Shabak leader said, "and that which helps build the terrorist infrastructures and enables the perpetration of terror." Dr. Martin Sherman, of Hebrew University's political science department said that Hamas mixes charity funds and terrorism monies together in the same bank accounts. "This makes it difficult for Israel to explain operations such as the one in Shechem," he said. Sherman also stated that throughout the world, "it is known that Hamas and Hizbullah receive their money from trans-Atlantic drug deals, based in South America. The money goes to support families of terrorists who committed suicide attacks, and is used to pay for training and attacks, including the arms and explosives they require.

Happy Day of Trumpets:
This Shabbat [Saturday, September 23] is the first day of the seventh Hebrew Month Tishrei. Leviticus 23:24b tells us, "In the seventh month on the first of the month, you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation." A reminder of what? The first time in the scripture that we see a trumpet being sounded is Exodus 19 when Israel met God at Mount Sinai. The people heard "a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled." It seems likely that following this event the people may have experimented at reproducing what they heard at the mountain until they came up with blowing a shofar or rams' horn. By the time they get to the battle of Jericho we see the priests replicating the sound by blowing on "trumpets of rams' horns." [Joshua 6:4]
Tradition since the time of the Babylonian captivity calls this "Rosh Hashanah," meaning the head of the year, but biblically the first of the year is two weeks before Passover. Blessed is he who knows the sound of the Shofar!
