Rallies around the World in support of Israel:
Many rallies took place this past week in support of Israel. In light of the current conflict many have taken up positions at the Syrian embassy. There were also rallies in Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington D.C., and even Sydney, Australia. Of particular interest to us was the rally in Washington D.C. The organization called Christian United for Israel [CUFI] was the brainchild of Pastor John Hagee, popular television preacher and pastor of the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. This conference was planned months in advance with no one having any idea of how much Israel would need our support at this time. Such is the awesome timing of the Lord, our God. More than 3,500 Christians representing all 50 states [and nearly every congressional district] in the United States converged on Washington to petition their congressman and senators to support Israel, to not pressure Israel to give up land for peace, and to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Editors note: Although some Christian networks covered the event, it is interesting to note that there was no coverage by any of the liberal media. Had 3,500 homosexuals held a rally in Washington it would most likely have been reported by every major news service.
Who undermined Lebanon's Sovereignty?
That's right, none other than the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan! In this picture taken in Beirut in 2000, Kofi Annan is thanking Nasrallah, head of the terror group Hezbollah [Hizbu'llah - meaning the political party of Allah] for maintaining law and order in southern Lebanon. This means that in 2000 Kofi Annan acknowledged that the terror group Hezbollah was responsible for maintaining law and order in southern Lebanon. Interesting that now it is Israel who is being blamed for undermining Lebanon's sovereignty.
All of Israel is "opening their doors" including expellees:
After hearing all week of Lebanese residents fleeing from Lebanon, it is important to mention that thousands upon thousand of Israelis are under siege in bomb shelters all over Israel. In some instances Israeli families have felt the need to [at least temporarily] flee these war zones. For those who are fleeing from the rocket attacks it is a special sight to see the families that were physically forced to leave their homes by their own government [during last year's "disengagement"] opening their doors to those in need. Communities all over Israel, including those from Gush Katif, are taking part in an online correspondence to help fleeing families find temporary residence away from their homes. Anyone interested in hosting families who have fled the war zone can sign up on a website [web site is only active during certain hours of the day].
Aliyah, Aliyah, Aliyah:
Even during these times of war, "Aliyah" [going up - immigrating to Israel] is still alive and well. Here is a website showing the most recent pictures of Olim coming home. No matter what happens in the world it is still evident that Israel is home to the Jewish people and nothing will stop them from coming home.
Gay Pride Canceled:
Due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon the gay pride parade that was suppose to occur in Jerusalem this August has been canceled. Unfortunately, this decision had nothing to do with legal efforts orchestrated in an effort to stop the parade. It had appeared that it was going to take place whether anyone liked it or not [surely God works in mysterious ways].
Gingrich: This is World War III:
It is important to note that most of the world is still not on a war footing thinking that fundamental Islam will never come to there own shores, and that there really is not a war, a world war. This week, former speaker of the house, Newt Gingrich made these comments concerning the missile issue in Israel.
"Imagine we woke up this morning, and 500 Americans were dead in Miami from missiles fired from Cuba. Do you think any American would say, 'No, we should have proportionate response. We shouldn't overreact.' No we would say, 'Get rid of the missiles.' And John F. Kennedy, a Democrat who understood the importance of power in the world, was prepared to go to nuclear war to stop [Soviet] missiles from being positioned [in the western hemisphere and toward the USA] in Cuba."
Please support Israel in her fight. In this time the quote of Edmund Burke is profoundly true. "The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." Please, do something.
