Jerusalem Day:
On Friday believers around the world celebrated Jerusalem Day recognizing the 49th year of the liberation of Jerusalem during the six-day war in 1967. There was a mass gathering in Jerusalem [see photos from Jacob Richman]. In the midst of all that is currently taking place it is important to remember that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel, and that her people will never forget it. Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
We Will Serve but NO RETREAT:
It is well known that Israel has a mandatory military service term and that all citizens must serve. This week a letter from soon-to-be graduates was being circulated and signed stating that they plan to serve in the army, but that they will not take part in withdrawal plan. So far the letter has approximately 250 signatures. The letter states, "We are a group called 12th Graders for Israel" and "The army is important to us, but we want Prime Minister Olmert to know that we will not take part in this unethical and illegal crime of removing families from their homes."
Jews To Wear Yellow Bands:
A new law concerning dress-code was passed in Iran this week. The law will require the Iranian government to make sure that religious minorities [Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians] wear distinct color schemes to make them identifiable in public. Under this new law, still awaiting final approval from the Ayatollah himself [Ali Khamenei], Jews will be required to wear a yellow band on their exterior in public, and Christians will be required to wear red bands. Included in this new law, the Iranian government has envisioned that all Iranians wear "standard Islamic garments" designed to remove ethnic and class distinctions. The stated purpose for the law was to prevent Muslims from becoming "unclean" by accidentally shaking the hands of non-Muslims in public.
Tour Israel for Hanukkah:
Join us as we explore Israel from a genuine Biblical Zionists perspective. Meet the people who are continuing the Biblical narrative in the Land today. See for yourself how ancient prophesies are being fulfilled. Discover how you too can participate in the ongoing process of Biblical Redemption. Join us for an opportunity of a lifetime, to see the real Israel from the viewpoint of those who are living the Bible today. The experience will change your life.
The tour has been coordinated and will be guided by Associate Pastor Jon Klein [pictured left].
