Unfortunately ... Another Bombing:
Unfortunately, on Monday there was a homicide bombing striking the same Tel Aviv fast food felafel-stand that was bombed three months ago. Nine people were murdered and approximately sixty more were injured. This occurred the same day that the new Knesset members were being sworn in. May this only be a reminder of the reality that Israel faces. This is the first bombing since the Hamas led "Palestinian" Authority took control of the government.
Egypt and South Africa condemn Israel:
As usual after this week terror attacks countries from around the world condemn the occurrence and call for restraint from Israel concerning retaliation. But two interesting comments came from Egypt and South Africa concerning the matters after condemning the bombings but made unequal comparisons to Israel being partly to blame. Egypt’s foreign minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stated he was, "deplored by the Israeli shelling of northern Gaza Strip and the massive raid mounted against Nablus". He also made mentioned of the, "Continued Israeli military operations and oppressions of the 'Palestinian' civilians, [which] fan feelings of hatred and derail peace efforts," as if measures taken by Israel to stop terrorists from attacking Israeli population centers actually causes the Arab counter parts to want to hate and commit these acts. The South African foreign minister made mentioned of the homicide bombings as follows, "The suicide bombing, which follows the bombing of Gaza last week that left more than fifteen 'Palestinians' dead, including a baby and a number of innocent children, are all acts that are counterproductive to peace. We stand firm in our belief that no cause can justify the resort to terror against innocent civilians".
Jerusalem Residency Cards Revoked:
For Arab-Israeli citizens having a Jerusalem residency card means the freedom of movement throughout all of Israel, as well as receiving payments from the Israel National Insurance fund. These privileges were taken away this week to four members of the newly formatted Hamas legislative branch of the "Palestinian" Authority, including the prominently known red-bearded member of Hamas, lawmaker Mohammed Abu Tir. This decision is expected to be expanded to other members of the P.A. Hamas-led government. Hamas' Jerusalem residences are expected to appeal the decision. Israel's foreign minister stated that, "the right to be in the PA parliament does not include the right to be a member of the 'Palestinian' terror organization". It is important to mention that this is not the first time members of a terror organization have had their residency revoked by Israel.
Syrian Government being sued in U.S. Courts:
This week the family of Israeli MIA [missing in action] Zecharia Baumel has filed suit in the United States against the government of Syria for imprisoning their son for the past 24 years. Provision for such a suit is made possible through the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, which allows foreign states [designated by the U.S. as terrorism sponsors] to be sued in the U.S. courts in cases where harm has come upon American citizens. The lawsuit would then seek judgment against that state’s assets within U.S. banks. This will be the first time that the Syrian government is being sued in this manner. Baumel, originally an American citizen, made "Aliyah" and joined the Israeli army. He and two others were taken prisoner in 1982 while serving in the Israeli army. According to reports, the three were taken through the streets of Damascus on top of their tank, which was a flatbed truck, as seen in the photo. Information has been accruing over the years that the Syrian government is directly responsible for this capture and continued detainment. The family states that they are not seeking financial judgment for this suit but to show that all means are being taken in order to gain access to their son and hopefully obtain positive results.
